2 Maccabees 7:1–29 — The seven brothers

Second Maccabees 7 narrates martyrs who accept torture and death in hope of resurrection. Hebrews 11:35 recalls people who refused release under torture so that they might obtain a better resurrection; the wording strongly evokes the Maccabean martyrs without naming them.
